Driver held over pedestrian death

A van driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing the death of a pedestrian in Leeds.

Thomas Edward Britten died when he was hit by a van on the A6110 Ring Road Beeston, near to the junction with Churwell Hill, at 0705 GMT on Monday.

The 18-year-old lived in the Beeston area of the city, police said.

A van driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being questioned. Police have urged witnesses to come forward.
