Man 'critical' after hit-and-run

A pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a car on Leeds' Inner Ring Road.

West Yorkshire Police said the 30-year-old man, from York, was hit by a Nissan Micra which failed to stop on the westbound carriageway at 0610 BST.

The car involved was later recovered in the Armley area and a 28-year-old Bradford man has been arrested.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash. Witnesses have been urged to contact police.
