Woman dies after pavement crash

A woman has died in hospital after police said she was hit by a minibus which ran on to a pavement in Leeds.

The 32-year-old, from Wakefield, was trapped between the minibus and a shop after the vehicle went on to the pavement on Merrion Street on Monday.

She was taken to hospital but died later, West Yorkshire Police said.

The 56-year-old driver of the minibus, from Batley, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being questioned.
