Man, 24, dies after hit-and-run

A 24-year-old man has died after being hit by a car which fled the scene in West Yorkshire.

The victim was taken to hospital but died following the incident outside the Elephant and Castle pub on Westgate in Wakefield at 0315 BST.

The man was crossing the road when he was struck by what officers believe to be a dark coloured Renault vehicle. The car then turned into Drury Lane.

Police said the car will have damage to its front.
