Father's gun death was 'mistake'

A man shot dead at a house in Leeds could have been the victim of mistaken identity, say police.

Adam Chadwick, 20, was visiting his sister when three masked men and a woman burst into the house on Clifton Mount in the Harehills area on 24 June.

He died in hospital two days later from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives have issued an efit of the woman who was with the men. Police said she had been knocking at doors earlier in the night asking for "Michelle".

Det Supt Steve Payne said: "Enquiries to date lead me to believe this incident was a case of mistaken identity."

Officers are also appealing for information about a blue Ford Focus found in the Chapeltown area, close to the site of the former Hayfield pub.

Det Supt Steve Payne said the vehicle was stolen from the Oatland Heights area of Little London on 11 June.

In a statement Mr Chadwick's family said his daughter Ruby was "the apple of his eye".

His mother Jackie, father Martin and sister Gemma said: "They were more than father and daughter, they were best friends.

"We cannot imagine how much she is going to miss her daddy."
