Man remanded over takeaway murder

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of a father-of-six who was shot dead outside a Leeds takeaway.

Michael Rungeon, 33, is accused of murdering Rohan Ricketts, 34, at the Shah Jahan takeaway in April last year.

He also faces charges of possession of firearms with intent to endanger life and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Magistrates remanded Mr Rungeon in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 19 June.

Mr Ricketts, who was known as Shonn, was shot as he collected a meal from the shop on Roundhay Road, in the Harehills area of the city.
