Men bailed over city stabbings

Police at scene of stabbings in Leeds
Police described the incident in Leeds as "serious public disorder"

Five men arrested after a major disturbance in Leeds city centre have been released on bail.

Five other men were treated in hospital for knife wounds after the incident outside a nightclub early on Monday.

West Yorkshire Police have revealed three of the injured men are thought to be from the Nottingham area, one from Rotherham and one from Leeds.

One of the men suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the incident in The Calls area of the city.

The five men who were arrested and bailed are all believed to be in their early 20s, police said.

A force spokesman earlier confirmed these were not the injured men.

"Police were called to an incident at 5.10am outside a nightclub in The Calls area of Leeds city centre," he said.

"CCTV picked up what appeared to be a disturbance. As a result of this disturbance five men were treated at Leeds General Infirmary for stab wounds."

Police urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
