Cannabis factory found after fire

Plants found at the house
Police also found five kilos of cannabis

A cannabis factory storing about 300 plants was found when firefighters were called to a blaze at a house in West Yorkshire.

Fire crews alerted the police after they made the discovery at the property on Broadway, Lupset in Wakefield.

Police said the electricity supply at the house had been tampered with in order to grow the hundreds of plants and this had caused the fire.

Five kilos of cannabis were also recovered from the property.

Det Sgt Andrew Kelly, of the Wakefield District Drug Team, said: "This is a major find.

"We actually found freshly harvested cannabis which could have been on the streets imminently."
