Woman remanded over blaze deaths

A woman has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a baby girl and a 27-year-old man who both died in a house fire in Leeds.

Marie Louise Sharp, 22, of Seacroft, Leeds, was remanded in custody by the city's magistrates and is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 4 January.

Fifteen-month-old Kyra Moran died in hospital after the fire in Dufton Approach, Seacroft, on 13 December.

Gavin Battensby, 27, who had tried to save the child, died from his wounds.

Kyra's 19-year-old mother, who has not been named by police, was initially taken to hospital but was later discharged.
