A mother whose baby daughter died following a suspected arson attack in Leeds has left hospital.

Fifteen-month-old Kyra Moran died in St James's Hospital after a fire at a house on Dufton Approach, Seacroft, in the early hours of Thursday.

Her 19-year-old mother was discharged from St James's on Friday. A 27-year-old man who was also injured remains critically ill.

Police are questioning a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.

'Tragic incident'

Neighbour Glenn Blackburn said the critically ill man had tried to save the baby.

Mr Blackburn said: "He tried to get upstairs to save her. I could hear him shouting that he couldn't find the baby."

Det Supt Steve Payne said: "This is a tragic incident that has resulted in a young life having being cut short.

"I would appeal for anyone who was in the Dufton Approach area between 12.30am and 1.30am [on Thursday] and saw anything suspicious to come forward.

"I would like to offer my condolences to the families involved, who are currently being cared for by specially trained officers."
