A man was attacked and his 12-year-old son was restrained by a gang of burglars who went to their home armed with a crowbar and a knife.
The man was left needing hospital treatment. Although his son was restrained by the gang, he was unhurt.
Detectives said the four robbers entered the house in North Featherstone, near Pontefract, on Tuesday and demanded money.
The men fled along Willow Lane and then got into a black hatchback car.
Officers are asking anyone with information to contact them.
