Charity 'Battle' secures cash pot
Johnny Nelson and Joss Battle
Jos Battle challenged retired boxing champion Johnny Nelson
He came, he saw and on Thursday night the son of a Leeds MP conquered boxing legend Johnny Nelson in a "points for effort" charity victory.

Jos Battle, a 28-year-old property developer, took on the former champion from Sheffield after challenging him to raise money for The Grace Foundation.

Leeds West MP John Battle said his son Jos had acquitted himself admirably in the bout at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.

"They did not muck about, I would not have got in there with either of them".

Former WBO cruiserweight fighter Nelson, 40, from Sheffield, agreed to come out of retirement for the event.

Battle had prepared for the fight with help from trainer Ryan Rhodes.

His father John said: "Her went the four rounds... but they were a bit longer than the anticipated two minutes each - a friend of Jos's was time-keeping.

"It was a fun night out, Johnny's a brilliant performer he really did let him have a go."
