Girl burnt in fireplace accident
A five-year-old girl has suffered 80% burns in a freak accident at her home in Bradford, firefighters have said.

The youngster was looking in a mirror above the fireplace at the house in Barkerend when her loose clothing was ignited by the flames.

She suffered severe burns and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary after the accident on Wednesday afternoon.

West Yorkshire Fire Service said that people should not place mirrors above fireplaces in their home.

"This encourages an approach to a potentially lethal source of heat, and often real flames," said fire investigation officer Martin Day.
