Man killed as car hits embankment

A 20-year-old man was killed when his car left the road and crashed into a grass embankment.

The accident happened as the driver left the M62 eastbound at junction 27 to join the M621 at Gildersome in the early hours of Monday.

Emergency services were called but the driver of the VW Golf was declared dead at the scene, a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
