Photos issued in football inquiry
Police images of football hooligan suspects
Police hope issuing the photos will lead to fresh arrests
West Yorkshire police have published photographs of 28 people - including several children - following trouble at two matches involving Leeds United.

More than 100 Leeds supporters were involved in clashes with police, after a Cardiff City match on 15 January.

Eleven people already facing charges in connection with that incident are due in court on Wednesday.

Missiles were also thrown after Leeds played West Ham United on 26 February. Police hope more arrests will follow.

History of violence

Officers say the violence took place outside Leeds United's Elland Road ground after the matches ended, and lasted for about an hour.

They believe some of those involved in the violence were as young as 13 years old.

Fixtures between Leeds and Cardiff City have a history of crowd trouble.

The violence in January saw stones and rocks thrown at police, who had been called in to break up a group of fans gathering near the away supporters' stand.

New weapon

Arrests involving Leeds supporters were said to be up 50% last season.

But West Yorkshire Police say the clarity of digital pictures they can now obtain gives them a new weapon in the war against football hooligans.

"Four months after the disorder, they probably think we have forgotten all about it," said Det Supt Phil Sedgwick.

"Today we are releasing their photos and appealing to anyone who may know who they are to let us know. You will not be asked to give evidence, we simply want to know who they are."

The images can be viewed on the West Yorkshire Police website. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01274 376100.
