Robbers steal drinks-laden lorry
A lorry carrying £100,000 of wines and spirits has been stolen by a gang of robbers who tied up the driver after he stopped in a North Lincolnshire lay-by.

The 31-year-old truck driver, from the Rotherham area, raised the alarm after being abandoned behind a mobile cafe at Althorpe on the A18 on Monday night.

He had left the Nisa Distribution depot in Scunthorpe a few hours earlier.

The driver told police he was tied up by three men who took his white Volvo truck loaded with 895 cases of drinks.

No weapons were used and the driver was not injured, Humberside Police said.

Officers conducted a search of the area last night and scenes of crime officers were sent to the roadside café to gather forensic evidence.

Details of the lorry - registration AV02 GWX - have been circulated on the police national computer and neighbouring police forces have been alerted.
