Police stopping cars
Police are trying to find witnesses
A search is under way for an armed man who shot at two officers after running amok with a gun in Huddersfield.

The gunman was seen firing at a man in a parked car in Alder Street before fleeing in a Fiat on Thursday evening.

Armed police saw the car in Clare Hill but as they stopped their unmarked vehicle, the man shot at them, shattering the windscreen.

Both officers suffered shock and one had an eye injury from flying glass. The man fled through one of the houses.

The person being shot at in Alder Street, near the town centre, has not been traced and on Friday evening West Yorkshire Police said they were keen to speak to him

They also urged the gunman to contact them either directly or through a third party.
