Skin and fur had started growing over the chain

A dog who was found tied up in Leeds with a metal chain embedded in his neck was the victim of "callous" cruelty, an animal welfare charity has said.
Joe, a three-year-old collie cross, had been abandoned in woods in Headingley.
The chain used to tie him up had become embedded with skin and fur growing over the collar - but he is now making a recovery after surgery to remove it.
Amanda Sands, manager of Dogs Trust in Adel, said: "I can't believe that someone can be so callous."
Severe pain
Joe was discovered in such a terrible state that staff initially thought he might have to be put down.
But after undergoing an operation he is now recovering well and waiting to be re-homed.
Ms Sands added: "Joe had obviously been in pain for a very long time until he was found.
"Injuries of this nature do not happen overnight - it would take months."
