Search for fell runner suspended
Cuillins
Two mountain rescue teams have been scouring the Cuillins
Adverse weather conditions have forced the suspension of a search for a missing fell runner on Skye.

Northern Constabulary said concerns for the safety of mountain rescue teams prompted the decision to temporarily call off the search on the Cuillins.

The 57-year-old man from Halifax went missing after setting off on Saturday for a run across the hills.

The alarm was not raised by his wife until Sunday, because he has stayed out overnight on previous trips.

The Skye and Royal Air Force Kinloss mountain rescue teams have been carrying out a search of the south ridge of the Cuillins.

A Coastguard helicopter and 15 members of the local mountain rescue team undertook an initial search of the area on Sunday.

Police said the search had been suspended at 1430 BST on Monday but the situation would be reviewed.

"The safety of the rescue parties has to be taken into consideration," a spokesman said.
