A body discovered in the back garden of a house in a village near Leeds was badly decomposed and hidden under bushes, police have revealed.
Forensic tests are being carried out on the remains, which were recovered on Wednesday from a property in Harewood Road, East Keswick.
West Yorkshire Police said they are treating the death as suspicious.
A force spokeswoman said: "We hope to establish the gender and age of the deceased later on Thursday afternoon."
She said the body was found by someone known to the householder.
