Driver killed in tyre explosion
A lorry driver was killed on the M62 in West Yorkshire when he went to retrieve a wheel that had come off his truck.

It happened on Monday morning on the westbound carriageway near junction 32 at Pontefract when one of the front wheels came away.

The tyre and brake drum came to rest on the motorway verge.

The driver - a 50-year-old man from Leeds - pulled up on the hard shoulder and as he went towards the wheel it exploded causing him fatal injuries.
