University to confirm campus move
Part of Leeds University
Arts students could be moving to Leeds University's main campus
A final decision about the future of Bretton Hall near Wakefield as a university campus is due on Thursday.

The Council of Leeds University is expected to recommend that closure will take place in 2007.

Pro-vice-chancellor Alan Pearman said the Council would be discussing students' concerns and a full logistical assessment.

"We believe a move in 2007 would be in the best interests of staff and students at Bretton," he said.

University authorities have already promised new arts facilities on the Leeds campus, including a £1.5m theatre capable of seating 200, rehearsal studios and back stage storage.

If ratified on Thursday, the timetable would see students start courses at Bretton in 2005 and 2006 before transferring to Leeds to finish their studies.
