Student housing review hits suburb
A major review of student housing in Leeds is under way in a bid to prevent Headingley from becoming any more of a "student ghetto".
The suburb has become a popular place to live for students with its array of cafes, pubs, bars and shops.
Universities and colleges say they plan to encourage students to live in other parts of the city after residents complained that the area was overrun with people "with no-long term appreciation for it".
One plan is to set up an area of "student housing restraint" where various housing development schemes would be refused by planners.

Before leaving for Iraq the soldiers, who come from all over Yorkshire, will undertake training in Nottinghamshire.
Alert over water algae
Watersports enthusiasts and other visitors are being warned to keep away from Yeadon Tarn in Leeds for safety reasons.
City council officers acted to close the popular lake after potentially dangerous blue-green algae was found on the surface of the water.
The algae can cause skins problems, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Warning notices have gone up all round the lake and a scheduled sailing tournament has been cancelled.
