Traffic is jammed on the M62 motorway after a lorry crashed
|
A lorry accident on the M62 near Huddersfield has caused huge traffic jams during the rush hour.
The driver had been taken to hospital after his HGV, travelling east near junction 22 at Saddleworth, ended up on the westbound carriageway.
Police say there were tailbacks of at least 18 miles westbound, and queues were building steadily eastbound.
The entry slip roads at junctions 23 and 24 had been closed as are two lanes of the westbound carriageway.
Ambulance staff had to be airlifted into the scene after a white articulated lorry collided with the central reservation at 1115 GMT on Friday.
The driver was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
