Yorkshiremen are the most thrifty lovers in the country, according to a new dating survey.
Yorkshiremen came bottom in the generosity stakes
The average Tyke spends just £9.25 on a first date making it the cheapest night out in the country.
In contrast, men in Essex top the generosity stakes spending an average £24.60 on food, drink and transport for their date.
The survey of 3,000 people visiting bars also found that the top turn-offs for women during a date were bad breath, breaking wind, and men who talked to their cleavage.
Behind Yorkshire, the next least generous men in the country were found to live in Warwickshire (£11.08) and Lancashire (£11.20).
Average first date spending
West Sussex £21.80
At the top, Essex was closely followed by Gloucestershire (£24.02) and Cheshire (£22.45).
A spokeswoman for Brannigans, who carried out the survey, said: "The survey looked specifically at what men are spending on a date so maybe women in Yorkshire pay their own way more than in other areas.
"It certainly doesn't imply that women in Yorkshire are cheap.
"I don't know if I am high maintenance but I was certainly surprised at the small amounts some people spend on a date."
