Fire at carpet makers
The fire scene
Workers at Rawson managed to leave safely
Around 70 firefighters have been dealing with a fire in Castle Bank Mills at Wakefield.

West Yorkshire fire service was called to carpet manufacturers Rawson on Portobello Road at 0920 BST on Friday

All staff managed to leave the building before the fire brigade arrived.

Some local residents were asked to close doors and windows although the smoke was not thought to be toxic.

The nearby A61 Barnsley Road was closed for a time because of the smoke but was later reopened.

Around 1400 BST the fire was brought under control.

The cause is still being investigated.
