Ten injured in two-car collision in Birmingham

Ten people were hospitalised - one a six-year-old with serious injuries - after a road collision in Birmingham.

A vehicle carrying eight people was in a collision with a car carrying two on Lichfield Road, near Aston railway station, at 1305 GMT on Saturday.

The roof of the vehicle carrying eight passengers had to be removed and a boy, aged about eight, was taken to hospital with "serious" head injuries.

A woman in the same car, thought be in her 30s, suffered abdominal injuries.

The six other people in the vehicle, a man and five children, suffered various minor injuries.

All were taken to Heartlands Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

A woman and man, both in their 20s, travelling in the other car also suffered various minor injuries.

They were taken to City Hospital for treatment.
