Man injured by factory machinery

A 20-year-old man suffered serious injuries when his arm became trapped in machinery at a Birmingham factory.

The man was left in excruciating pain and felt faint after the incident at the premises in Hatchett Street, Newton, the ambulance service said.

"His arm had been freed from the machinery by his colleagues prior to the crews' arrival," a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

The man suffered multiple open fractures to his left arm, he added.

The man was moved on to a stretcher and taken to Selly Oak Hospital in the city.
