Cyclist dies after bus collision

A cyclist has died after becoming trapped under a bus following a collision in Birmingham city centre.

The collision happened on the Lancaster Circus roundabout, near James Watt Queensway, in Aston, at about 0610 GMT.

Fire crews had to use specialist equipment to lift the single-decker bus in order to free the 63-year-old man.

He was taken to City Hospital but died of multiple injuries at 1125 GMT, West Midlands Police said. The man has not been formally identified yet.

Anyone who witnessed the collision has been asked to call West Midlands Roads Policing unit in Digbeth.
