New parish vicar after eviction

Rev Kennedy Njenga
Rev Kennedy Njenga takes over in the spring

A new vicar has been appointed to a West Bromwich parish after its previous incumbent was removed from office after having an affair.

Dr Patrick Okechi was found guilty by disciplinary tribunal of "conduct unbecoming to the office and work of a clerk in holy orders".

He refused to leave his home but was ordered to do so when Lichfield Diocese got a possession order in July.

Rev Kennedy Njenga, 42, will be licensed to take over in March 2010.

The parish of the Good Shepherd with St John has been without a priest since 2006 when Dr Okechi was suspended.

Mr Njenga is currently vicar of The Beacon Church in Pheasey, West Midlands.
