Police head in pledge to public

The new head of West Midlands Police Authority has pledged to tackle perceptions that it is "Birmingham-centric".

Derek Webley said he would hold more meetings of the authority in other parts of the force area.

He said it would be so people outside Birmingham could have their say on what they wanted from the police force.

Mr Webley, a bishop of the New Testament Church, Handsworth, was elected chair last month.

He said: "The most important people that matter are the people of the West midlands so it's important to be in conversations with them but from a listening perspective.

"In terms of where the office is based I can assure you that we are certainly not Birmingham-centric."
