Town searches for missing woman

Margarett Elliott suffers from Alzheimer's Disease

More than 150 people have volunteered to search for a Black Country woman who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and has been missing for two weeks.

Margaret Elliott, 75, of Barnford Crescent, Oldbury, has not been seen since 28 June.

She has lived in the town her entire life and taught at the local Causeway Green Primary School for 40 years.

Det Insp Gary Dring said he had never seen so many people come forward to help in a missing persons inquiry.

Sensors fitted to Mrs Elliott's home due to her condition reveal she left her home at about 0100 BST.

'Great teacher'

Her family have been looking for her since without success.

There have been several false sightings of her, including in Langley Park and Halesowen town centre.

James Elliott said he had been amazed by the community's response

Her son James Elliott said his mother was well-known in the town as a result of teaching at the school.

He said: "I never met an ex-pupil that she taught that didn't ask me about her and ask how she was doing and said she was a great teacher."

He said the response of people to her disappearance had been "amazing and overwhelming".

"Friends and family have been great, they haven't stopped looking for her.

"The local community and the turn out is great - I never expected it."
