Judicial review over taxi licence

Drivers staged a go-slow protest last month at the airport

A taxi association has obtained a High Court injunction to continue operating at an airport despite a new company being awarded the licence.

Drivers with Birmingham and Solihull Taxi Association (BASTA) recently staged a go-slow protest over the changes at the city's airport.

The airport has said BASTA did not meet "the service standards" it expected.

The association has now won the right to a judicial review to be heard at the court next month.

Passenger Transport Solutions (PTS) took over from 1 June but about 200 BASTA drivers have continued to operate at the airport.

About 250 drivers are with PTS, some transferring from BASTA, an airport spokesman said.

Large parts of the city were brought to a standstill last month when BASTA drivers staged a protest.
