A man and a woman have been charged over a live internet broadcast which allegedly showed a child being sexually abused.
West Midlands Police arrested a man in Walsall who has since been charged with possession and distribution of abusive images of children.
Further inquiries led to the arrest of a woman in Maine, USA. She has been charged with gross sexual assault.
Four children in the US have been taken into protective custody.
West Midlands Police's child exploitation investigation team were alerted on Thursday evening by Humberside Police to a man allegedly using the internet to show inappropriate material of children.
An 18-year-old man from Walsall was later arrested and charged and a number of items seized for examination.
On Friday afternoon, the team contacted US forces who arrested a woman in Mars Hill, Maine.
Four children, aged between 18 months and five years, were taken into protective custody.
