Six people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was injured in a hit-and-run incident in the West Midlands.

The 30-year-old was struck by a car in Sandyacre Way, Stourbridge, as he investigated reports of a burglary in the early hours of Monday.

He was taken to hospital but released on Monday evening after treatment.

Three men and three women have been arrested in the Woodgate area of Birmingham, West Midlands Police said.

Officers had been responding to reports of men acting suspiciously in Hammond Way.

When they tried to block a silver Subaru in and speak to the driver the car sped off, hitting the officer who was injured.
