Officials look at Metro proposals

More trams could run in Birmingham after transport officials agreed to earmark money for extensions to the current Metro line and new trams.

A new line would go to New Street station, but there are hopes that it could be extended to Five Ways, BBC Midlands Today has learned.

Funding still has to be approved by the government, BBC Midlands transport correspondent Peter Plisner added.

The Metro runs from Wolverhampton St George's to Birmingham Snow Hill.
