Taxi crash death boy identified

Grant Booker died on his way to hospital

The name of a boy who died after being hit by a private hire taxi in Birmingham city centre has been released by police.

Grant Booker, 17, of Tyseley, died while being taken to hospital following the incident outside The Mailbox in the early hours of Sunday.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Grant's death and bailed pending further inquiries.

Suffolk Street Queensway was closed for seven hours after the collision.

Anyone who saw the crash has been asked to contact West Midlands Police.
