Hundreds gather for Gaza protest

Hundreds of people gathered in Birmingham city centre protesting against Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The rally, which organisers said was peaceful, came as Israel and Gaza's ruling party Hamas both rejected a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire.

More than 200 Palestinians living in the UK gathered in Victoria Square waving banners and chanting.

Speakers condemned the action, which is estimated to have killed 770 Palestinians and 14 Israelis.

They also called for an end to the export of weapons to Israel and urged Birmingham City Council to boycott Israeli goods.

One of the protesters Mohammed Baalousha said he still had family back in Gaza.

He said: "It's really awful to hear from my family that they are asking me for forgiveness because they might die."
