Rat infestation closes takeaway

A Chinese takeaway in the Black Country has been closed after a rat infestation.

Mun Yuan, in Quarry Bank High Street, was closed by magistrates after Dudley Council said rats' droppings were found in the kitchen.

Environmental health officers issued an emergency hygiene prohibition notice.

Dudley Magistrates Court ordered the premises to remain closed and pay £1,000 towards the council's legal costs on Tuesday.

Before it is allowed to reopen the takeaway must satisfy the council that the infestation has ended and the necessary cleaning and pest-proofing works have been carried out.
