A kitten has died and two cats were injured in air-gun attacks in the Black Country and Stoke-on-Trent.

The RSPCA said it had received reports of cats being shot at in Stoke-on-Trent, Pensnett and Sedgley.

The attacks took place in the last two weeks and police have been informed, a spokesman said.

RSPCA inspector Martin Dolan said he was "disgusted" by the incidents and would prosecute if those responsible were found.

Criminal offence

I am quite frankly disgusted that people haven't got better things to do with their time.

Indiana Jones, a seven-month-old re-homed kitten from Skye Close in Stoke-on-Trent, was shot on Tuesday and died on the vet's operating table.

Three-year-old Fubar, from Albert Street in Pensnett was shot in the stomach on 31 October.

His owner said it was not the first time his cat had been injured by someone with an air-gun.

Monty, a 10-year-old cat from Caswell Road in Sedgley, is believed to have been shot sometime in the first week of November, the RSPCA said.

Although both cats survived, Mr Dolan said: "I am quite frankly disgusted that people haven't got better things to do with their time.

"Aiming an air-gun at an animal in order to cause it pain and suffering is a criminal offence and if we find out who is responsible for these attacks we will prosecute."
