Inquiry after man dies in assault

A murder inquiry has been begun after a man was attacked near a bus station in the West Midlands.

Police said the man, in his 50s, collapsed near Bilston bus station on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. Police said he had been assaulted by two men earlier.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested over the matter. Police are looking for witnesses, especially a young man who came to the injured man's aid.

Officers said the young man also summoned the help of other people.

The bus station is close to the market and would have been busy at that time of day, police said.
