Football boss sex inquiry dropped

Co-owner of Birmingham City Football Club David Sullivan faces no further action following an allegation he sexually assaulted a young woman.

Mr Sullivan, 59, was arrested in July on suspicion of sexual touching after a complaint by a 25-year-old woman, but he had always denied the claim.

It was alleged the incident happened at a house in Theydon Bois, Essex.

Police dropped the case, after a three-month investigation, on the advice of crown prosecutors.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "Detectives are no longer investigating an allegation of sexual assault in Theydon Bois.

"Police were contacted by a 25-year-old woman from east London on July 1 who stated that she was assaulted at a house in the village the previous evening.

"Detectives arrested a 59-year-old man from the Epping area on suspicion of committing sexual touching.

"Following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, he has been released from police bail and no further police action will take place."
