Man critical following shooting

A man is in hospital in a critical condition after what is believed to have been a drive-by shooting in Birmingham.

Shots were fired at a Citroen Saxo on Monument Road, near Ladywood Middleway, during Tuesday evening.

A police spokeswoman said officers found a man in his early 20s, a passenger in the car, with a gunshot wound.

A number of roads in the area including Monument Road were closed.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

The car from which the shots were fired is thought to be a light-coloured saloon.
