Man in wheelchair falls on tracks

An elderly man has been injured when his electric wheelchair fell onto railway tracks in the West Midlands.

The man in his 70s suffered head and elbow injuries when he fell at Cradley Heath station about 0940 BST.

It is believed he reversed over the edge of the platform while turning around his wheelchair, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

Trains going to the station were halted while the man was treated. He was then taken to Russells Hall Hospital.
