Tourist found staff 'having sex'

A holidaymaker is lodging a complaint with First Choice holidays after one of his children came across two resort staff having sex in his bedroom.

Ricky Dearn, 29, of Wolverhampton, took his girlfriend and three children for a two-week break to The Royal Park Hotel in Elenite, Bulgaria.

When he checked on what his son had told him he found two staff members "scurrying along a corridor", he said.

A spokeswoman for First Choice said the couple in question had been dismissed.

Mr Dearn, who spent nearly 3,000 on the trip, said: "The entertainment was pretty much non-existent, the food was shocking and then to top it off the second night we were there the eldest lad found a couple of workers having sex in his room."

He added he had complained to reception and later learned the pair had been sacked.

He said: "I found it slightly amusing at first but then I thought it could have security issues.

"I was also adamant that the hotel got the room cleaned that night."

The holiday was also dogged by illness with the family suffering stomach upsets and he and his girlfriend suffering viral infections.

His girlfriend became so ill at one point she was put on a drip, he said.

Mr Dearn said he saw that a lot of people at the centre had become ill.

"The holiday village had a medical centre and when I went, because my lips became inflamed, there were about 14 other people attending to be put on drips," he said.

A spokeswoman for First Choice confirmed there was an outbreak of illness at the resort.

"As soon as our resort staffs were made aware of the bout of sickness they advised the hotel to implement POSI (Prevention of Spread of Illness) procedure and have taken the additional step of sending an independent UK-qualified hygiene consultant to carry out an inspection of the property.

"First Choice is currently carrying out a detailed investigation into the sickness outbreak to locate the cause.

"First Choice was also very upset to learn of the unacceptable behaviour demonstrated by two employees of the Royal Park Hotel in Bulgaria and would like to apologise to the Dearn family, as soon as the issue was reported to the hotelier, both employees were dismissed."
