Police have released CCTV images of a man stabbed to death in a street fight.

Patrick Mellard, 33, died in hospital after being stabbed in Orchards Way, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, on 28 May.

The images have been released of Mr Mellard, who was single and lived with his parents, as he made his way home on the evening of his death.

Three men questioned on suspicion of his murder, along with two women arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released.

'Family shattered'

One man has remained on police bail while the rest have had their bail cancelled.

Mr Mellard, who was one of seven children, has been described by police as a "quiet and reserved person who kept himself to himself".

A statement from his family said he was a "sincere son, devoted brother, loving uncle and decent friend to all who knew him".

It added: "Patrick was brutally robbed of his life in Balsall Heath, the neighbourhood in which he was born and raised.

"His premature and unexpected death has left our family shattered and broken hearted.

"Friends have unified in our grief, equally shocked and distraught, knowing that his life has so tragically and senselessly been cut short.

"Our family are extremely desperate to lay our loved one to rest.

"We continue to urge the local community and anyone who knows anything relating to Patrick's murder to come forward and assist the police and family at this distressing time."
