Ryanair is opening a new headquarters in Birmingham

Budget airline company Ryanair is opening its new headquarters in the West Midlands.

The low-cost operator is also set to offer more routes to European destinations from Birmingham International Airport.

Ryanair spokeswoman Michelle Dowling said there was potential for the firm to grow at Birmingham.

She said Ryanair hoped to be flying five million passengers a year in and out of the airport in five years' time.

The company currently transports up to 300,000 passengers per year at Birmingham.
