Boy seriously hurt after incident

An 11-year-old boy who was found unconscious following a collision with a car in the West Midlands has been taken to hospital.

The ambulance service was called to the junction of Highgate Road and Ladypool Road in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, on Saturday evening.

A spokesman said the collision happened near the Karachi Fried Chicken takeaway and the boy was seriously injured.

He was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
