Man charged over student murder

A man has been charged with murder following a woman's death at a house in Birmingham.

Police were called to an address in Montague Road, Handsworth, on Tuesday afternoon where they found the woman and an injured man.

A post-mortem examination found that 23-year-old Samrajyo Jyothirmai Vempala, an Indian national studying in the UK, died of head injuries.

A 24-year-old man will appear at Birmingham magistrates court on Friday.

Ms Vempala was studying at the University of Wolverhampton.
