Woman admits dog cruelty charges

A woman has admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a dog which plunged to its death from a fifth floor balcony in the West Midlands.

Shenna Spence, of Charlemont Farm, West Bromwich, was looking after Laddie, a black terrier, for an elderly friend when the dog died in October last year.

The 61-year-old admitted failing to attend to dog's needs and two charges of causing unnecessary suffering.

Her husband, Alexander, 60, pleaded not guilty to the same charges.

The couple will appear again at West Bromwich Magistrates' Court on 14 May when RSCPA prosecutors will decide whether or not to accept Mrs Spence's basis of plea.
